To Fear The Lord Is The Beginning of Knowledge

I started studying the book of Proverbs this week & it was pressed upon me to share some of my revelations on our blog. I remember a friend of mine who also is a prophet, saying this is the year of the wise. She stated this before we entered 2021. As you know I flow in the gift of wisdom (if you listen to the podcast), so I heard her but I didn’t HEAR her. So I am not too surprise to journey through proverbs again.

The book of proverbs is 31 chapters of sound wisdom you can apply to your life immediately. Chapter one is strategically written to show you how to start gaining wisdom. It starts by explaining what a proverb is and even telling you who wrote it. This book was written by King Solomon, son of David and notably one of the wisest men in the Bible. I won’t give it all away beca use you need to read it. But I want to point out one particular verse: Proverbs 1:7

“The [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the begin ning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We need the wisdom of the Lord to walk out our purpose and even in our daily lives as a believer. Now, many of you know that, we read the scripture, we heard about it in church this verse gives you the pre requisite. In order to get the knowledge you seek (in everything) around wisdom for your life it starts with reverent fear of the Lord. This fear is to worship God and honor God with your life. It means to see Him as the sovereign God that He is. It means you obey Him because you love and reverence Him. It means you take care of the poor and widows because of your intimate relationship with God.

Now we see what it means, let’s dive into what it doesn’t look like. Fearing the Lord doesn’t look like the following:

  • Running from your call
  • Operating in your own will
  • Deciding to talk about God but not be with God
  • Choosing to disobey
  • Seeking an answer elsewhere when God already told you
  • Creating Idols –
  • Doing goodwill to be pleasing in your sight

These are just a few to name, and because of this the wisdom you truly seek can’t be released. I want to empower you to get it right today. If God is revealing to you where your fear of God has dwindle away, get honest in prayer today. Ask him for the strength to truly repent and get it right. It’s 2021 and we all need our Abba, Father. He desires a relationship with you, but you have to make a choice to fear Him. Let Him be your Father starting now. If you know you need more wisdom in your life, join me on this proverbs journey. I’ll be sharing fairly often on this blog. So make sure you follow.
